The intention was to restore the representative character of the forecourt of the Libeň Castle in the historical trace of the design by garden architect F. Thomayer from the beginning of the 20th century while respecting current societal needs and future development. By unifying the character of the whole space, opening the views of the castle and the statue of Jan Podlipný and making the access to the building more attractive, the forecourt became a worthy partner of the castle - the cultural monument.Read more
The renewal of part of the Thomayer's Garden consists mainly from the revitalization of the greenery (felling, clearing, shaping, remediation of preserved trees, planting including hedges, planting of flowers and climbing roses), and replacement and supplementation of facilities (benches, trellises, memorial plaques, etc.). Also the existing sidewalks and stairs and lining retaining walls were restored (new stone paving, height adjustments, maintenance of tree crowns).
